JAMES & CATHIE HIGHTSHOE

They write from the part they lived

Pastors of Redeemed Life Church in Rockford. Married, plain spoken, and forty years into the work of walking people out of the things that had hold of them.

Pastors James and Cathie Hightshoe

James

He got free from drugs and alcohol in his twenties, and he smoked for years after that before he quit for good. That is why the books read the way they do. He is not writing about strongholds from a distance, he is writing about the ones that had him.

Most of his titles started as something he taught on a Sunday and people kept asking for on paper.

Cathie

She was widowed young with small children, and she learned to cherish an ordinary day the hard way. Her writing comes out of that, and so does the way she pastors women who are in the middle of something.

A lot of people already start their mornings with her on Coffee with Cathie.

Why they write at all

Hands raised across a row of the congregation on a Sunday
The room these books were written for.

Neither of them set out to be authors. People kept coming back for the same answers, so they wrote the answers down and made them cheap enough that anybody could get one.

Book after book, the letters they get back are mostly from people who had already tried everything else. That is the whole point of the shelf.

Their ministry reaches well past Rockford now, in books, coaching, and courses, and it still runs on the same idea it started with: hand people something they can actually use this week.

The church behind the books

Redeemed Life Church is where all of this actually happens. Two campuses in Rockford and Loves Park, and the door is open whether you have been in church your whole life or have not been in twenty years.

What you spend here pays for Sunday, for the pantry, and for the work around the city.
